Match Report
Chinthurst School Boys-U11A vs  Reigate St Mary's
On: Wednesday, 18 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

On a rather balmy Wednesday afternoon, the Under 11A's continued their season with a home fixture against RSM. In training, we have working hard on holding our shape, identifying areas of space and also taking care to use light feet and touches, whilst entwining quick and efficient passes. From the first whistle to the last, I can honestly say the boys worked tirelessly in pressing forward, holding firm in defence and creating far more space from keeping our shape. At half time the scores were level, after some good attacking plays from both sides. In the second half we continued to press high up the pitch in search of a winner, however we found ourselves caught out of position occasionally on our flanks, which when pressing high up the pitch, left gaps in our defensive formations, this led to a quick goal from our opposition. We continued our search for an equaliser with some good fast throw ins and smart plays from Lucas entwined with some inch wide shots from William, one of which hit the crossbar so hard, it quite literally lifted the goal off the ground. Unfortunately time wasn’t on our side with the match finishing at 3-2. We have now played two matches from which the score line doesn’t necessarily reflect the effort, enthusiasm and growing improvement this team is displaying. I spoke at the end of being patient, keep doing the right things, not panicking on and off the ball and continuing to grow in confidence with every fixture; if we can continue this, it is only a matter of time before this team will get the results they are deserved. My thanks as always to the parental support. WB
