Match Report
Chinthurst School Boys-U11A vs  Micklefield School
On: Wednesday, 11 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

Our first fixture of the season, and indeed the year, was upon the under 11A team, wherefrom the very short journey to our own playing fields was to be the venue, Micklefield our opponents. Being our very first game, we spoke about the irrelevance of the score line but rather the pertinence of maintaining our shape and structure across the pitch. For the first couple of minutes, we found ourselves a little lost at sea, whereby we reverted to ‘hoofing’ the ball any which we could when we received it, rather than keeping our composure, shifting our structure to an attacking phase, moving into space, looking up and passing; the simple things in football, that when done right, creates numerous opportunities. We suddenly found ourselves two goals down in very quick succession. However, at this point rather than shy away, the boys stood firm and started to keep their composure with enormous effect, thus after a beautiful passage of passing play, Finn swept home. The second half was a different game altogether, we came together, managed our flowing structure with greater effect and this lead to numerous chances, two of which hit the post. A special mention must go to Shayen who was rock solid in defence and co-ordinated the back three very well. A truly pleasing opening performance with many positives to take away; if we keep up the work ethic, continue to work as a team and maintain our shape, chances will definitely prevail themselves. My thanks as always to the touchline parental support. WB
